Dalkia Awarded Public-Private Partnership Contracts in the Hospital Segment in Italy

Through its participation in two consortiums, Siram, Dalkia International's Italian subsidiary, has won two public-private partnership contracts to build and manage Cona Hospital in Ferrara and Careggi Hospital in Florence. The new business represents total operations and maintenance revenue of €211 million for Dalkia over the duration of the contracts and strengthens Siram's leadership in the hospital segment.

The public-private partnership contracts cover construction and management of the new cogeneration plant at Careggi Hospital in Florence and construction and management of Cona Hospital in Ferrara. Once the two facilities are built, Siram will operate the utility plants for a period of 15 years in Florence and 30 years in Ferrara. Carried out as part of a consortium with INSO, Fiorentina Gas SpA and other local partners, these projects represent total operations and maintenance revenue of €975 million, of which €211 million for Siram.

Careggi Hospital in Florence, one of Italy's largest, will be equipped with a new 7.5 MWe cogeneration plant. The new contract, which represents annual revenue of €5 million for Siram, is Italy's first public-private partnership for the construction of a hospital cogeneration unit. Siram's 15-year contract for energy management and facilities maintenance will begin in 2009.

The new Cona hospital complex in Ferrara is being built to replace Sant'Anna Hospital. More than 3,800 employees will work in the 140,000-sq.m, 880-bed complex, scheduled for completion in 2010. Siram, which provides facilities maintenance services for Sant'Anna Hospital, will manage HVAC and power facilities at Cona, beginning in 2011, for a period of 30 years. The contract represents annual revenue of €4.2 million.
